Quick answer
A combined solar and battery system lets your Hamilton home generate electricity during the day, store the surplus, and use it in the evening and overnight. We install through MCS-certified partners and size every system to your roof and your usage.
Why combine solar and a battery
Solar alone generation peaks in the middle of the day when most Hamilton households are out or using little. A battery captures that surplus and releases it when you actually need it — evening cooking, laundry, devices, heating. The combined approach means more of the energy you generate is used in your home, and you draw less from the grid at peak times.
A single coordinated system also means one inverter platform, one monitoring app and one install visit, rather than retrofitting a battery onto an existing solar setup later.
How we design a combined system
We start with your roof: orientation, pitch, shading and available area. Then we look at your usage — daily and seasonal — so the battery is sized to what you actually generate and consume. A typical Hamilton semi-detached or detached home in Burnbank, Udston, Whitehill, Hillhouse or Silvertonhill can host a useful rooftop array; older stone homes in Barncluith may need a more careful design.
- Hybrid inverter that manages both solar and battery
- Single monitoring app showing generation, storage and usage
- Smart charging from cheaper off-peak tariffs
- Backup power options for essential circuits
Planning and local notes
Solar on most homes is permitted development in Scotland. Listed buildings and conservation areas need consent — check with South Lanarkshire Council. A battery sited inside the property is generally not subject to planning, but listed buildings may still require consent for the works.
